Chasing After the Wind
Rod Furan is the illustrator for the new book, Chasing After the Wind, by author Paul Hadley. Born and raised in Southern Minnesota, Furan is an accomplished commercial and fine artist with more than 50 years of professionally experience. Today, he specializes in oil and acrylic paintings depicting the traditions of the American West, wildlife, historical and Native American subjects. During the Korean Conflict, he returned to service and was chief layout artist for the 8th Army Psychological Warfare Unit. After his military service, Rod entered the art field full time and worked in the aerospace industry for more than 20 years. During this time he continued his art studies and free lanced art projects for various commercial agencies and businesses from his art studio in his home. In 1993 he retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he did technical and scientific illustration. Rod has taught commercial and technical art at the post-secondary level and night-school classes in story, advertising and fashion illustration.
