Sara Biren

Sara Biren recently moved from the Minneapolis area to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, with her husband and their two teenagers. A true Minnesotan, she is a fan of hockey, hotdish, and hanging out at the lake. She enjoys seeing live bands and watching movies with her family.

Sara is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato. There, she channeled her inner Betsy Ray and often visited The Bench for inspiration.
She writes contemporary young adult fiction, works for a Minneapolis marketing firm, and is a freelance editor.

Holland Delviss wants to be known for her talent as a hockey player; when her school is selected for HockeyFest, it’s her status as the only girl on the boys’ team that makes her the lead story. Not everyone is thrilled with Holland’s new fame, but there’s one person who fiercely supports her, and it’s the last person she expects (and definitely the last person she should be falling for): her team captain, Wes Millard.

Last summer, the death of Lucy’s best friend and Ben’s sister Trixie turned their idyllic world upside down. Ben has distanced himself from Lucy, numbing his pain with parties and girls, and Lucy, who has had a crush on him for years, does her best to move on. But in their small lake town, forgetting the past – and each other – proves impossible.
