BLUE EARTH

COUNTY LIBRARY

BEC Library.jpg

The Blue Earth County Library System is comprised of three libraries in Mankato, Lake Crystal and Mapleton. We serve our patrons through a variety of programs, activities, events and educational materials for adults and youth. All are designed to encourage the use of our libraries’ resources to develop and maintain a life-long habit of reading and learning, including Maker Mondays, our Book Discussion Club, author events, regular story times and one of the largest Summer Reading Programs in the state.  For individuals living in rural Blue Earth County, we offer “Rural Library Services” where materials are sent directly to patron mail boxes free of charge (with an enclosed postage-paid return envelope). We also extend this service to senior citizens within the county. Please visit our website (www.beclibrary.org) for more information on all of our programs and services, or call 507-304-4001.

Maud's Deep Valley Mural
The mural painted by Marian Anderson depicts the scenes from Maud Hart Lovelace's Betsy-Tacy books. It was funded by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board and was presented to the Library on March 9, 1980.

The focal point of the Blue Earth County Library is the Fountain, a 25 foot circular area with a rock sculpture created from six boulders from Minneopa State Park. It was designed by Raymond Jacobson.
